It was therefore the French MEP, co-founder of the Place publique party, Raphaël Glucksmann, who was elected on Wednesday 23 September to chair the work of the European Parliament committee in charge of the
fight against disinformation
and against foreign interference in European electoral processes.
The elected representative calls on Europeans to stop being naive and to do everything to protect democracy, "
this fragile common treasure threatened by foreign powers
" which use various means, he said.
Honored to chair the special committee on foreign interference in European democratic processes.
Democracy is our common good, beyond our oppositions.
We must cultivate it ceaselessly and defend it relentlessly.

"Our democracies are not for sale"
“
Funding of political parties, funding of electoral campaigns, cyber-attacks, coordinated campaigns of massive disinformation ... Our rights, our security, our sovereignty are at stake. The European political scene cannot be a market in which foreign powers hostiles come to shop.
We are not for sale, and our democracies are not for sale,
”said Raphaël Glucksmann
So many tools recently denounced in the context of
the election of Donald Trump in the United States
or the last French presidential election.
Information warfare, led by China or Russia, will be at the heart of this committee's debates.
However, the MEP of the National Gathering,
Thierry Mariani, notoriously close to the Kremlin
, will sit precisely within this body.
An appointment that makes more than one smile in the European Parliament.
