Russian President Vladimir Putin told members of the Federation Council, the upper house of Parliament.

The vaccine was developed by the Vector Institute in Siberia, which completed the initial stages of human trials last week.

Russia has already registered its first possible vaccine, developed by the Gamaleya Institute in Moscow, in August;

it is precisely for this vaccine that the last stages of experimentation are currently underway, those on a large scale and involving at least 40,000 people.

"Today, the health system is ready to effectively fight the coronavirus infection and the seasonal epidemic of cold-related diseases," Putin said in a meeting with senators in the Kremlin.

Putin stressed that during the pandemic everyone felt and understood in a particular way the value of every human life, the importance of the work of an effective health system.

According to Putin, his capabilities have increased significantly in recent months.

"We take into account all possible risks and will continue to work proactively," said the Russian president.
