Passage du Gois, in Vendée, was the scene of a fatal accident.

This submersible road, which connects Beauvoir-sur-mer to the island of Noirmoutier, becomes dangerous as soon as the tide rises because the water quickly covers the roadway.

Monday evening, while the coefficient was still high after several days of high tides, a 66-year-old woman lost her life after her vehicle was trapped by the waves.

According to the gendarmerie, the four other people who were in the vehicle were able to extract themselves and find refuge, before being taken care of by the emergency services, notified around 5 p.m.

The driver, meanwhile, was swept away.

His lifeless body was later found.

Already Sunday, the firefighters had to intervene on the passage of Gois to rescue two walkers.
