The US embassy in Manama called on its citizens in Bahrain to "exercise caution" in a security alert published on Monday.

It also called on Americans in this country to "avoid gatherings and demonstrations," and to "carry with them valid travel documents at all times."

On Friday, Bahrain witnessed sporadic small demonstrations to denounce the country’s signing of an agreement to normalize relations with Israel.

On Monday, the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, announced during a cabinet session that the agreement was not directed against anyone.

Bahrain accuses Iran of using the Shiites of Bahrain as a tool to destabilize the kingdom, but Tehran denies any interference in Bahrain.

Tehran strongly condemned the signing of an agreement to normalize relations between Manama and Tel Aviv.
