The search pressure for universities and colleges has increased as a result of the corona pandemic.

The government is therefore investing SEK 1.7 billion in new training places.

- Good opportunities for education are needed when the number of applicants to the university is record high.

With this budget, we propose resources so that more people can study, wherever they are in life or in the country, says Matilda Ernkrans (S), Minister of Higher Education and Research, in a written comment.

For Uppsala University, this means 1,510 new places during the year 2021.

- There are very different types of places - some shorter and others longer, but it is very controlled.

A small part is free for the university to offer based on its conditions, says Anneli Waara who is press manager at Uppsala University.

Even before the summer, the university received more money to, among other things, offer more summer courses and more places in the natural science base year during the current autumn semester.
