The Ministry of Health and Community Protection began giving the first dose of the "Covid-19" vaccine to medical and nursing staff at Al Qasimi Hospital for Women, Maternity and Children in Sharjah, after the state authorized the use of the vaccine for doctors and workers on the first line of defense.
In line with the Ministry’s plan, which includes providing the vaccine for the first line of defense, the Director General of the Emirates Foundation for Health Services, the Assistant Undersecretary for the Hospital Sector, Dr. Yusuf Muhammad Al Serkal, the Assistant Undersecretary for the Health Centers and Clinics Sector, Dr. Hussein Abdul Rahman Al-Rand, and the Assistant Undersecretary for the Support Services Sector In the ministry, Awad Saghir Al-Ketbi, the first dose of the "Covid-19" vaccine.
The Ministry affirmed that giving the vaccine to medical personnel confirms the leadership’s interest in all workers in the health sector, and its keenness to ensure and provide the highest levels of safety and security for them, noting that the start of administering the first dose of the vaccine in Al Qasimi Hospital for Women, Childbirth and Children, comes in light of the great success it has achieved The UAE in the clinical trials of the vaccine conducted by the health sector in the country, which showed positive results, and demonstrated its effectiveness and ability to reduce the losses caused by the pandemic, pointing out that those who received the vaccine in the hospital will follow up their health status within the followed protocols. The "Covid-19" vaccine for the first line of defense, is based on the criteria for eligibility for approval for emergency use, taking into account the target groups, the characteristics of the product, the clinical and preclinical study data, and the relevant available scientific evidence, as the Ministry followed many monitoring procedures. The quality, safety and efficacy of the vaccine, including emergency use of the product within a range determined by the legislative health authorities in the country.
