Jordan records the highest daily death toll from Coronavirus

On Tuesday, the Jordanian Ministry of Health announced the recording of the highest daily death toll from the new Coronavirus in the Kingdom since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, with 634 cases confirmed.

"There were 634 cases of Coronavirus recorded in the Kingdom today (Tuesday), thus the cumulative number of cases that entered the Kingdom's approved hospitals is 5679," Health Minister Saad Jaber said during a press briefing.

He added, "This large increase in cases indicates that we must take personal measures to protect the family (...) We must all take measures to physical distancing, wearing a muzzle and washing hands."

As of Tuesday evening, there had been 5,679 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, and 33 deaths.

For his part, the spokesperson for the Epidemiology Committee, Nazir Obeidat, said, "Jordan is currently in the stage of societal spread according to international standards."

He pointed to the increase in the number of infections of unknown source, and the increase in the number of infection centers in multiple geographical areas.

On September 14, the government decided to close schools, mosques, restaurants, cafes and popular markets for two weeks, after 214 injuries were recorded in one day, which was considered a large number at the time.

The increase in the number of injuries began at the beginning of this month after the reopening of schools, the return of about one and a half million students to school, and the resumption of regular international flights at Queen Alia International Airport.
