The pedestrianization of downtown Lyon continues in small steps.

The Lyon metropolis, in consultation with the town hall of the 1st arrondissement, has decided to ban car traffic, part of the rue Sergent Blandan.

This is the small portion that connects rue Terme to rue des Capucins.

This decision will be final and effective from this Wednesday.

"This ban aims to calm traffic in the rue des Capucins", indicates the metropolis, chaired today by the ecologist Bruno Bernard.

And to continue: "It will make it possible to considerably reduce the traffic of cars crossing this part of the street without hindering the movement of residents and deliveries".

Vehicles will thus be diverted to rue Leynaud.

"After a period of adaptation, we will assess the effectiveness of this strategy", concludes Fabien Bagnon, Vice-President of the Metropolis, delegate for active mobility.
