A new explosion shakes southern Lebanon

An explosion rocked a village in southern Lebanon today, and a security source said that preliminary information indicates that it occurred in a house belonging to the Iranian-backed "Hezbollah" group.

Security sources said that the explosion caused a number of wounded, without giving any figures.

One of the security sources said that Hezbollah imposed a security cordon on the area where the explosion occurred and was covered by a huge cloud of smoke.

The Lebanese Al-Jadid TV also reported that Hezbollah had imposed a security cordon and said the building belonged to Hezbollah.

It was not immediately clear what caused the explosion, which occurred in the village of Ain Qana, about 50 km south of Beirut.

The explosion sent gray smoke over the village.

A witness in an area near the southern village of Ain Qana, near the coastal city of Sidon, said he felt the ground shaking.
