A player has tested positive for Covid-19 and excluded from the qualifications for the women's singles at Roland Garros, the day after an identical decision for five players in the men's singles, announced the organization of the tournament on Monday.

The identity of the player in question has not been specified.

"The management of the Roland-Garros tournament informs that a player in qualifying has tested positive for Covid-19. In accordance with the tournament's health protocol, this player has been excluded from the women's qualifications table which begins tomorrow (Tuesday) and will remain isolated for seven days, "writes Roland-Garros in a press release.

Qualifying for men's singles began on Monday.

Five players, two tested positive for Covid-19 and three considered to be "contact cases", were excluded on Sunday.

"In total, around 900 tests have been carried out since last Thursday," said the Parisian Grand Slam.

Postponed due to the new coronavirus pandemic, Roland-Garros is exceptionally scheduled for the fall, from September 27 to October 11.

At this stage under the eyes of a gauge reduced to 5,000 spectators per day maximum.
