Dubai Tourism details guidelines for tourist camps in accordance with the new Executive Council resolution

The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing in Dubai "Dubai Tourism" recently held a virtual meeting with tour operators to discuss new guidelines related to tourist camps, which would positively impact this sector, while providing more options and experiences for visitors, as well as establishing Dubai as a preferred destination for a visit on the level of the world.

This is based on Executive Council Resolution No. (24) for the year 2020, issued by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council.

 In a comment to him, the Director General of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing in Dubai, Hilal Saeed Al-Marri, said: “Within the framework of our continuous efforts to resume tourism activities until the stage of full recovery, the decision of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai Chairman of the Executive Council regarding tourism camps to contribute to the improvement of the level of services provided by the tourism companies that organize this type of activities, in a manner that ensures the provision of distinctive experiences for our guests, as it reflects our commitment to work together with our partners to maintain the sector’s sustainability and its continued growth. The support provided by our wise leadership to highlight Dubai as a preferred destination that provides residents and tourists with unique and distinct experiences.

During the virtual session, which was attended by about 100 tour operators, important information was presented about the proposed new format, the advantages and guidelines for operating tourist camps to improve the quality of services and experiences provided to guests.

Under the new regulations, tour operators will be allowed to provide accommodation and overnight stays as part of a package of services provided to camp guests, in addition to providing food, drinks and entertainment activities.

The camps will also be classified into different categories according to their type and service packages provided to guests.

Note that each category will have its own criteria and list of requirements, in addition to the minimum services that tourism companies must adhere to or provide in order to obtain a permit from Dubai Tourism to operate the camp.

In addition, the operators must inform the guests of the details of the services they will receive, while Dubai Tourism can change the camp category based on the services provided.

It is also important for camp operators to follow all health, safety, security, hygiene and sterilization requirements.

 It is noteworthy that the preparation of the indicative list of the new form and advantages will be completed soon, and the tour operators will be informed after receiving the feedback and comments of the concerned partners, including other government agencies.

The virtual meeting concluded with a question-and-answer session during which various inquiries were answered, including renewal of permits and exemption of fees, additional information on camp activities, facilities and services, and the possibility of increasing the area of ​​the existing camps.

 Tourist camps are part of the favorite outdoor activities for many residents and visitors, and they combine traditional and modern experiences.

A tourist camp is defined as any permanent or temporary site approved by Dubai Tourism that is developed by tour operators, whether in the desert, mountains, valleys, nature reserves, or any other location for the purpose of providing tourism services and offers to both residents and tourists.

 According to the recent decision, "Dubai Tourism" is the competent authority in the emirate to regulate the establishment, management and operation of tourist camps, and its powers in this regard include setting the conditions, requirements, procedures and standards necessary for practicing this activity in the emirate, and determining the minimum number of tourism services that should be available in the tourist camps according to For its categories, and in accordance with the best practices followed in this regard, and to decide on the applications submitted to it by establishments to conduct the activity in the Emirate.

The provisions of this resolution apply to all tourist camps in the Emirate of Dubai, including the camps that are established, managed and operated within the Special Development Zones, and free zones, including the Dubai Financial Center.
