New reports, new measures and highlights: an update on the latest developments in the Covid-19 pandemic around the world.

- More than 957,000 dead -

The pandemic has killed at least 957,948 people around the world since the end of December, according to a report established by AFP on Sunday at 11:00 GMT.

More than 30.8 million cases have been officially recorded, of which at least 20.8 million have been cured.

The United States is the most bereaved country (199,268 deaths).

Next come Brazil (136,895 dead), India (86,752), Mexico (73,258) and the United Kingdom (41,759).

But in proportion to the population, excluding micro-states, it is in Peru that mortality is highest (95 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants), ahead of Belgium (86), Spain (65), Bolivia (65 ), Brazil (64), Chile (64), Ecuador (63), the United Kingdom (62) and the United States (60).

- 100,000 cases in Belgium -

Belgium passed the milestone of 100,000 infections with the new coronavirus on Sunday, after a marked acceleration in positive tests in recent weeks, as in many European countries.

- Italy voted despite the virus -

Almost a third of Italian voters turned out on Sunday to participate in elections spread over two days, braving the resumption of the coronavirus to elect, in particular, presidents of regions like Tuscany, a left-wing stronghold for half a century of which the far right dreams of seizing.

Early Sunday evening, the participation rate was estimated at 30%.

For this very first poll organized since the pandemic, the reluctance of voters could weigh on the crowds in the polling stations, open Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., but also Monday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

- Strong restrictions in Madrid -

Nearly a million residents of the Madrid region were preparing on Sunday for the entry into force of strict restrictions on their freedom of movement on Sunday, intended to curb the second wave of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Announced Friday, these measures will come into effect Monday for two weeks.

- Record of contaminations in Lebanon -

Lebanon recorded 1,006 new cases of Covid-19, a record, and 11 deaths in 24 hours, bringing the total toll to 29,303 infections and 297 deaths in this country in crisis, the health ministry said on Sunday.

The number of new contaminations jumped after the explosion on August 4 at the port of Beirut, which left 190 dead and more than 6,500 injured, many of them flocking to already overcrowded hospitals.

- Demonstrations in Jerusalem -

Several thousand demonstrators gathered in Jerusalem on Sunday evening to demand the departure of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, indicted for corruption and accused of mismanagement of the health crisis, while the country has been reconfined since Friday.

- Emmy Awards at home -

The stars of the TV series attended Sunday from their living room or their bedroom at the evening of the Emmy Awards, the equivalent of the Oscars for the small screen in the United States, where the first winners have as expected received their reward from a distance, pandemic requires.

Catherine O'Hara, crowned "best actress" in a comedy series for "Schitt's Creek", was thus given the golden statuette from the hands of a man wearing a full body suit of biological protection.

- Play football despite 15 infected players -

Saudi club Al-Hilal played Iranian Shahr Khodor in an Asian Champions League match in Qatar on Sunday, his request for postponement due to the Covid-19 infection of 15 of his players was denied by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
