The International Campaign for Freedom in the UAE said that Emirati detainee Ahmed Mansoor is still in solitary confinement inside Al-Sadr Prison, and that his health is deteriorating.

The campaign indicated in a tweet on Twitter that Mansour was in a narrow cell without a bed, and he was not allowed to have books or sunlight, or to go outside.

The campaign confirmed that the poor conditions in the detention of Emirati human rights defender Ahmed Mansoor led to a deterioration in his health.

Earlier, more than 140 human rights organizations called in an open letter to the United Arab Emirates government to end the unlawful detention of human rights activist Ahmed Mansoor and release him unconditionally.

The organizations accused the UAE authorities of imprisoning and convicting the activist solely for his peaceful work in the field of human rights and the exercise of his right to freedom of expression.

The Emirati activist - who was serving a 10-year prison sentence - was arrested on March 20, 2017, and a year later, the court convicted him in late May 2018 on vague charges. Among them are insulting the prestige and status of the state and its symbols, spreading false information to harm the reputation of the UAE abroad, and portraying it as a land without law.
