The last two stages of the Lorraine rally did not take place on Sunday.

A decision of the organizer following a serious accident.

Around 12:30 p.m., a German pilot was the victim of a road accident at Dommarie-Eulmont, in Meurthe-et-Moselle.

His vehicle hit a tree before catching fire, reports L'Est Républicain.

Despite the rapid intervention of the emergency services, the man died.

His co-pilot, seriously injured, was transferred to Nancy hospital.

“Unfortunately, motorsport is a risky sport,” Jean-René Dubois responded to the regional daily.

The president of the Lorraine automobile sports association (Asac), which organized this 65th edition, also recalled that the last fatal accident during the race dated back to 2007.
