Last Friday, the Volkswagen Touareg, driven by the son of the vice-governor of the region Alexander Rezunov Maxim, was driven by a Toyota car, according to media reports.

As a result, Toyota driver Dmitry Pugachev was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Doctors fought for his life for more than a day, but they failed to save Pugachev.

Alexander Rezunov himself has resigned, Interfax reports, citing the regional government.

“I don’t want this situation to somehow influence the great work being done by the governor and his team.

“According to the preliminary version, the 33-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Touareg, moving from the side of Arsenalnaya Street towards Fokina Street, hit the Toyota Will in front.

From the impact, the Toyota car was thrown onto the Mitsubishi Lancer car moving in the opposite direction.

As a result of the road accident, the 35-year-old Toyota driver was hospitalized with serious injuries, the 43-year-old passenger of the Mitsubishi car was released after receiving medical assistance and prescribed treatment.

The driver of the Volkswagen car refused to undergo a medical examination, ”the press service told RT.

On the fact of the accident, a criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Art.

264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of traffic rules, entailing serious harm to human health by a person who is intoxicated."

As RT was told in the press service of the regional UMVD of Russia, in connection with the death of the victim, the issue of retraining the case from part 2 of article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation to part 4 is being resolved.

According to local media reports, the 33-year-old son of the vice-governor of Bryansk, Maxim Rezunov, was driving a Volkswagen with state number N002KX32.

He was allegedly drunk and fled the scene of the accident.

Toyota driver Dmitry Pugachev fell into a coma at the scene of the accident and was hospitalized with a traumatic brain injury.

According to the ruling of the magistrate of judicial district No. 30 of the Zhiryatinsky district of the Bryansk region, the case of Maksim Aleksandrovich Rezunov was considered on March 11, 2013.

On December 8, 2012, at three o'clock in the morning, Rezunov did not follow the order of the police officer to undergo a medical examination for the state of alcoholic intoxication.

According to the protocol, he had the following signs of intoxication: the smell of alcohol from the mouth, speech impairment, behavior inappropriate for the situation.

Rezunov committed an administrative offense under Part 1 of Art.

12.26 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation.

The consideration of the case was repeatedly postponed and in the end it was closed due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.

In addition, on October 12, 2012, the magistrate of the court district No. 42 of the Mglinsky judicial district of the Bryansk region closed the case against M.A. Rezunov.
