His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, is heading the UAE delegation to the seventy-fifth session of the United Nations General Assembly, and on September 29 he will deliver a video-conference speech before the General Assembly.

The state delegation to the General Assembly will participate in the discussions that will be held by Member States, United Nations officials and other stakeholders on the current status of multilateral work, the challenges facing it, and ways to achieve progress.

Although the Covid-19 pandemic will overshadow many discussions, the UAE will focus on the need to identify areas of convergence with regard to facing other global challenges such as nuclear proliferation, terrorism, climate change and inequality.

In a statement, the UAE reaffirmed its firm commitment to global cooperation, and identified the seven goals that it will focus on during its participation in the work of the seventy-fifth session of the United Nations General Assembly, which include ... Interfaith ... and working as a responsible global citizen: helping the most vulnerable in facing the Covid-19 virus ... and facing climate change by mitigating its effects and adapting to it ... and supporting women's empowerment ... and investing in sustainable development goals ... and encouraging innovation and preparing for the future .

In the face of growing global challenges, the UAE affirmed that it would remain a strong supporter of the multilateral approach based on achieving results that serve humanity.

Whether it is related to continuing to provide the necessary support to confront the Covid-19 virus, advancing women's empowerment, confronting nuclear proliferation and encouraging transformation in the field of energy and sustainability, or combating terrorism and extremism, stressing that it will continue to invest the time and effort necessary to bring about positive change in the multilateral system.

In its statement, the UAE indicated that it firmly believes in the importance of preparing for the future, and that with the approaching fiftieth anniversary of its founding, the state will continue to work to encourage innovation and creativity as the main means of adaptation and response against current and future challenges.

The general debate of the United Nations General Assembly, which extends for a full week, is considered an annual gathering attended by world leaders and witnesses a series of important meetings that address the most important global challenges.

It is reported that the work of the General Assembly will be held this year by default, in view of the Covid-19 virus pandemic.
