"Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan for the development of the agrarian and food sectors, Uktam Barnoev, died of complications caused by coronavirus infection," Interfax quotes a message from the government of the republic.

It is noted that Barnoev was treated in a private clinic in Tashkent, then was transported to Germany.

Barnoev, born in 1964, in February 2020 was appointed Deputy Prime Minister for the development of the agrarian and food sectors.

Earlier it was reported that the number of detected cases of COVID-19 in Uzbekistan exceeded 50 thousand.
