- It is extremely sad that it will be like this and it is an enormous amount of money that Malmö residents have to pay in taxes for this.
You want our tax money to go to something else that makes sense, says Tobias Nilsson, department manager at the Real Estate and Street Office in the city of Malmö.
The largest cost has been to repair and replace street lamps, traffic signals, trash cans, road signs and the like.
The amount of one million kronor also includes the municipality's cleaning of the area.
- Half of the amount has been spent on restoring traffic signals and street lighting, says Tobias Nilsson.
The cost of one million kronor does not include expenses for the social services, the police and the like.
The sum only refers to the damage caused by the riot.
"It's not just the cost that is the problem - our environment is destroyed for us who live here", says Jned, Malmöbo.
