According to the Danish Public Health Agency's (SSI) corresponding statistics page, the spread of infection is now increasing throughout Denmark.

In Greater Copenhagen, the figure is 51 infected people per week per 100,000 inhabitants, in central Copenhagen the infection rate is even higher, 86 people with a confirmed covid-19 per 100,000. The corresponding figures in Skåne at present are 18.7 per 100,000 inhabitants.

More are being tested in Denmark

That the spread of infection is greater in the Copenhagen area than in Skåne is confirmed by Thomas Nilsson, who is responsible for the page "Situation covid-19" within Region Skåne.

- Unequivocally yes, he says.

Can you really compare Skåne and Denmark's figures?

- No, not straight off.

Denmark tests three to four times as many people.

But you can compare over time, says Thomas Nilsson.

But if they test so much more in Denmark, can you be sure that the spread of infection is really higher there?

- The only thing you can say with reasonable certainty is that the infection in Sweden and Skåne does not seem to rise dramatically, while the infection seems to rise in Denmark, despite the fact that not many more people are being tested than before.

The tests in Skåne have doubled

For the past month, Skåne has had around 20 confirmed covid-19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, at the same time as testing has increased significantly.

- In the last four weeks, the number of tests in Skåne has doubled.

Four weeks ago, 9,130 people were tested, last week 18,373 people were tested.

This means that the infection situation does not improve in Skåne, you can be quite sure of that.

Because despite the fact that we test twice as many, the number of new positive cases on Skåne's 1.4 million inhabitants has decreased from 299 four weeks ago, to 219 cases last week, says Thomas Nilsson.
