China News Service, Paris, September 19 (Reporter Li Yang) French Minister of Economy and Finance Le Maire announced on the evening of the 18th local time that he had tested positive for the new crown virus and immediately self-isolated.

Le Maire confirmed the positive results of the new coronavirus through social media that night, and said that he immediately self-quarantined at home in accordance with the health regulations issued by the government.

Le Maire also revealed that he was an asymptomatic infected person and said that he would continue to perform his duties during the self-isolation period.

This is the first ministerial-level senior official who has confirmed a new crown virus infection since the recent rebound of the French new crown pneumonia epidemic.

Since the outbreak, many French government officials have been diagnosed with the infection, including the then Minister of Culture Lester, who was diagnosed with the infection in March.

French Prime Minister Castel was quarantined earlier this month due to close contact with people infected with the new crown virus.

Two subsequent virus tests performed by him were negative.

The French National Assembly revealed on the 18th that a total of 8 confirmed cases have been found in the last few days, including members of the National Assembly and staff.

Several members of the National Assembly have been diagnosed with the infection during the epidemic this spring.
