US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo blamed "military bluff" for a Chinese armed demonstration in the Taiwan Strait at the time of a senior US official's visit to Taiwan.

"We sent a delegation to the funeral, and China responded clearly with military pretentiousness," said Secretary Pompeo, who is on a tour of Latin America.

Keith Krak, Vice Minister of State for Economic Affairs, visited Taiwan on the 17th to attend a memorial event for former Taiwanese President Li Denghui in Taiwan.

Deputy Secretary of State Krak is the highest-ranking State Department official that the United States has visited Taiwan since the break-up in 1979, and China strongly rebelled, saying, "It violated the principle of'One China' and encouraged the forces of the Taiwanese independence division to raging."

In this situation, tensions increased as 18 Chinese fighters and bombers crossed the midline of the Taiwan Strait and entered the Taiwan Air Defense Identification Zone, and Taiwan also launched fighters and demanded their eviction.
