This was reported by the press service of the President of Lithuania with reference to a telephone conversation between the Polish and Lithuanian presidents Andrzej Duda and Gitanas Nauseda.

“The presidents discussed the issue of sanctions against Belarus.

Poland was invited to join the imposition of regional sanctions and thereby demonstrate solidarity with the civil society of Belarus, which is subject to aggression and political reprisals.

The head of Poland said that he is considering the issue of introducing national sanctions against Belarus, ”the statement says.

It is noted that the presidents discussed the situation on the border of both countries with Belarus and stressed that there are no actual decisions of Belarus to close the borders. 

On the eve of the Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced the "closure" of the border with Lithuania and Poland, as well as strengthening the protection of the border with Ukraine.

The official representative of the State Border Committee of Belarus Anton Bychkovsky said that the Belarusian border guards are guarding the state border in an enhanced regime.
