The number of confirmed covid cases in Denmark has increased recently and every fifth of those infected are said to be young adults between the ages of 20 and 29.

- We are facing a serious situation and see an explosive increase from day to day.

In the last 24 hours alone, 450 new people have been infected, says Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen at a press conference on Friday.

The restrictions are now being lifted from the local to the national level and the restrictions on nightlife in particular are being tightened.

All restaurants, bars and even private parties must close at 10 pm.

- Restaurant employees and visitors must use mouth guards, says SVT's reporter Micke Nilsson.

Danes are also encouraged to work from home if possible, this applies to employees in both the private and public sectors.

In the case of public gatherings, the limit is lowered from 100 to 50 people, with some exceptions for events where 500 people are allowed if you can follow the authorities' requirements at, for example, distance.

Concerns about lockdown

Denmark closed down sharply in March and eased restrictions at the beginning of the summer, but then the infection curve also increased.

The government is worried that there will be too much pressure on healthcare, says SVT's reporter Micke Nilsson.

- The anxiety among the Danes is great now.

You absolutely do not want to return to the situation that was in the spring when the whole country closed schools and workplaces.

How can it affect Scania and Sweden?

- The infection does not just stay in one area and with a lot of movement across the Sound, there is a risk that the infection can come to Skåne.

But there was no mention today of closing the border.

At present, only random checks are carried out.

The restrictions will apply at least until October 4.
