China News Service, September 17th. According to a report compiled by New Zealand Chinese Herald, the University of Auckland in New Zealand cancelled its plan to let students return to school from next week.

The school originally planned to offer courses for up to 300 students in the last few weeks of the second semester starting next Monday (21st), but this decision has now been changed.

Health Director-General Ashley Bloomfield previously questioned the decision to resume classes. The University of Auckland has just announced that it will resume online learning in the next two weeks.

The principal of the University of Auckland, Dawn Freshwater, said in an email to employees that no matter how the alert level is adjusted, the school will continue to study online until October 2.

She said Bloomfield's statement indicated that the Ministry of Education's guidelines did not apply to Auckland's 2.5 level alert.

Freshwater said that the two-week online learning is to ensure the safety of faculty, staff and students before the new crown situation becomes clearer.
