The IS group's propaganda outlet, Al-Naba, devoted a page to the attack in its Thursday issue, disseminating two photos, but giving few details about the event itself.

The publication, authenticated by multiple sources, including the American organ SITE specializing in the monitoring of jihadist groups, evokes a "

 lightning attack

" in the Kouré region which resulted in the death, in the words of the Islamic State group, of six French “

 Crusaders

” and two

 Nigerien

 apostates

”.

On the Niamey side, there were no reactions, reports our correspondent in Niamey,

Moussa Kaka

.

Young French aid workers, two men and four women, were murdered with their Nigerien driver and guide by armed men on motorcycles on August 9, while they were visiting the Kouré giraffe reserve 60 km south-east of the capital Niamey where they were based.

The Nigerien investigation is still open after suspects were arrested last month.

In France, an investigation was entrusted to specialized magistrates for “

assassinations in connection with a terrorist enterprise

”.
