There have been reports that it can take several days to get a time for sampling for county residents who have covid symptoms.

But Ewa-Lena Sjöberg, who is area manager for the local health care area Örebro and Söder in the Örebro County Region, states on Thursday afternoon that there are free times in Örebro.

- We have also increased by several hundred trial periods this weekend.

Right now there are times to book this weekend, both for the general public and healthcare professionals.

The goal is to increase capacity much more at the beginning of next week, she says.

From Thursday, healthcare staff with symptoms can pick up test kits and do the test on themselves in Örebro.

- Today we are testing a new track.

The staff can pick up their kit, take the sample, and hand it in a mailbox, says Ewa-Lena Sjöberg.

Tested in parallel

Another measure that the Region plans to implement to streamline sampling is to expand with more sampling tracks for the sampling premises in Örebro.

- We will have several sampling tracks inside the exhibition hall, it will be much better.

Several people will be able to be tested in parallel, says Ewa-Lena Sjöberg.

When will it be relevant?

- As quickly as possible.

We want more times and are constantly working on it.

The new measures will first be tested at the sampling room in Örebro.

- We are trying new tracks.

The idea is that they should be able to develop in more places, says Ewa-Lena Sjöberg.

Lab operations hard strained

Last week, just over 4,400 so-called PCR samples were taken in the county.

These are samples taken from people who are suspected of having an ongoing covid infection.

According to information to SVT Nyheter Örebro, the Region is now up to maximum capacity when it comes to its own lab resources.

According to information, the lab operation has the capacity to handle approximately 3,000 PCR samples per week.
