Libya: ANL announces death of Islamic State leader in attack

An attack in southern Libya was carried out by the Libyan National Army (LNA) against an Islamic State cell.
The spokesperson for the ANL announced on Wednesday September 16 the death of the new head of the Islamic State organization in Libya, known as Abu Abdullah al-Libya.

ISIS members barricaded themselves in a house under construction on the outskirts of Sebha.
They were very well armed.
According to a city official, Abu Abdullah al-Libya was difficult to identify and his real identity is not known.
It was his wife who was captured in the attack who said so.
She said she didn't know his real identity.

Abu Abdullah al-Libya was a very influential member of the Ansar al-Sharia organization in Benghazi, an offshoot of al-Qaeda involved in the assassination of the American ambassador there in 2012. In 2015, the The organization split and he pledged his allegiance to the Islamic State.
According to the ANL, it is this same group of the Islamic State organization that is responsible for the attacks in recent months.
These attacks targeted several locations in the desert as well as the al-Fil oil field.
