The Federal Reserve System, the central bank of the United States, said it would freeze the benchmark interest rate at the so-called'zero rate', which is now 0~0.25%.

The Fed explained that it would be appropriate to maintain the current rate until the labor market achieves maximum employment and until inflation gently exceeds 2% over a period of time.

In particular, the Fed said 13 out of 17 members of the Fed said that the zero interest rate should be maintained until 2023.
