A defendant in the case of Ji Xinran, a Chinese student, appealed to a Los Angeles court or sent another sentence

The California court upheld his guilty verdict, but will send it back to the court of first instance. Re-sentence.

　　It is understood that the defendant Alejandra Guerrero in this appeal was only 16 years old when she committed the crime, but the jury still believed that her criminal behavior was consistent with the special circumstances of murder.

When convicted in special circumstances, the penalty will be increased.

The argument of Guerrero's appeal was that there was insufficient evidence to determine that she was a crime in special circumstances.

　　However, this argument was rejected by the judicial panel of the California Court of Appeals for the Second District.

The chief judge believes that her indifference to human life is enough to prove that the special circumstances ruled by the jury are valid.

　　In the previous verdict, Alejandra Guerrero was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole. However, the appeals court panel asked the Los Angeles Superior Court to consider “age-related mitigation factors” and may re-sentence the sentence.

　　On July 24, 2014, Ji Xinran was robbed on the way back to the dormitory in the early morning. He suffered serious head injuries and died after struggling to return to the apartment.

Alejandra Guerrero is one of four young people convicted in Ji Xinran's case.

When she saw another defendant Ochua violently beat Ji Xinran with a bat, she overtook him and used the wrench.
