• Popular Party: The PP, without arms to defend the party from the corruption of the past

  • 'Kitchen Case'. The PP already contemplates acting against Cospedal and Fernández if they are accused, without waiting for the oral trial: "We will see it in due course"

The former Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy;

the former general secretary of the PP, María Dolores de Cospedal;

The former Minister of the Interior, Jorge Fernández Díaz and the president of the popular and opposition leader, Pablo Casado, are already one step away from being summoned by Congress to testify about the illegal use of means, resources and troops of the Ministry of the Interior to cover the alleged cases of corruption of the PP during the mandate of Rajoy.

The Lower House Board, with the votes of the majority that make up the PSOE and United We Can and the abstention of Vox, has given the green light to the processing of an investigation commission on the so-called 'Kitchen case' and, in parallel , has also admitted the proposal to create another to try to unravel the plot attributed to former Commissioner Villarejo and his irregular links with positions responsible for the Interior and "other departments of the State." In this case, the petition has also gone ahead with the votes to favor of socialists and purple, the abstention of Vox and the vote against the PP.

The investigation commission on the Kitchen case has been promoted by the two parties that make up the coalition government, PSOE and United We Can, but it also has the support of Ciudadanos and the pro-independence formations in addition to Más País and Compromís.

The commission on the Villarejo plot has its origin in a proposal registered by ERC, Junts, Bildu, Más País, Compromís, BNG and the CUP.

Once the green light from the Board has been received, it must be the Board of Spokespersons who decide on what date the initiative to create both commissions is submitted to the vote of the Plenary.

It is taken for granted that there will be a more than enough majority for approval and, from that moment on, the parliamentary groups have to negotiate the start date of their work as well as who will chair it and who will be the members of the Table that will direct direct your jobs.

The usual thing is that the duration of the investigations of an investigative commission is three months which, where appropriate, can be extended.

The future commission on the Kitchen case may in fact mark the political environment of the coming months, taking into account that, as Unidos Podemos has already advanced, the intention is to call Mariano Rajoy, María Dolores de Cospedal, Jorge Fernández Díaz and Pablo Casado himself.
