The practices complained of concern the prescription "over long periods (several months)" of "anti-infective drugs" (antibiotics, antifungals, antiparasitics, antivirals) and "heavy metal chelators", natural or chemical substances supposed to eliminate metals. heavy organism, the use of which is recommended only in the event of proven poisoning, details the ANSM.

Informed via its whistleblowing procedure, the agency notably collected orders that set out these prescriptions.

She explains having "informed the public prosecutor of these dangerous prescribing practices", but also the Orders of physicians and pharmacists, responsible for compliance with the rules of ethics by their members, as well as the National Health Insurance Fund (CNAM ).

“Anti-infective drugs present the risk of the occurrence of adverse effects, in particular during long-term exposure.
