17 Indian lawmakers tested positive for "Corona", with cases approaching 5 million

Yesterday, government officials in India said that at least 17 members of parliament had tested positive for the Corona virus, highlighting the widespread spread of infections that are about to exceed five million.

Lawmakers were subjected to scrutiny ahead of the reopening of parliament, the day before yesterday, following a six-month closure.

The deputies, who were negative, were put on masks and sat in seats separated by glass barriers.

A government official with a list of deputies said that 12 of the injured MPs belonged to the ruling BJP.
