The Tony Bertrand nautical center in Lyon, open summer and winter.

-

  • After the summer pools close on September 6, the winter pools are gradually reopening this week.

  • Due to the Covid, the gauge is limited in each of the establishments.

This winter like this summer, to go for a swim in Lyon, you will sometimes have to be patient.

This Monday, the Lyon city hall announced the gradual reopening of municipal winter swimming pools, after a short week without an accessible pool linked to the implementation of certain facilities.

Since Monday, the Saint-Exupéry (4th), Charial (3rd), Tronchet (6th) and Delessert (7th) swimming pools have been welcoming swimmers.

Wednesday, it will be at the Tony Bertrand nautical center, open summer and winter, to be put back into operation.

“Due to work undertaken within the framework of the energy performance contract (EPC) for the Vaise swimming pool, closed until the end of October, the opening of the summer swimming pool at La Duchère is extended until October 16 », Details the city of Lyon.

25% of the usual tonnage

Due to the health crisis, however, and the return to municipal pools of schoolchildren and swimmers registered in clubs and sports associations, access to swimming pools may be complicated for the general public.

For school activities, the number of classes hosted should remain similar to previous years.

"Special security measures are taken to organize staggered activities, regroupings and crossings of class groups", specifies the municipality.

For sports activities, the number of swimmers per line will be limited to 6-8 per swim line.

Finally, for the general public, the reception gauges will be reduced to 25% of normal operation in order to limit proximity to the pools and allow the swimming pools to be disinfected and cleaned.

The capacity will therefore be limited to 40 people at the same time in most winter pools, to 50 at the Garibaldi swimming pool and to 100 swimmers at the Tony Bertrand nautical center.

From this Monday and after a special summer pricing (2 euros for two hours booked), the old rates will again apply (between 2.6 and 3.4 euros, free for children under 6).

And people who do not live in the city are again authorized to cross the door of the Lyon basins.
