An investigation of the program "What is hidden is greater" on Al-Jazeera revealed the details of an Israeli alliance with Arab countries to blockade the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip, and the role of the Egyptian naval base in that, Berenice.

The program showed exclusive scenes showing the Egyptian army in a project to create a buffer zone in Rafah, Egypt, as well as the construction of modern walls along the border, and aerial photos recorded deep water basins dug on the Egyptian side on the Gaza border with the aim of preventing any attempt to dig tunnels.

The program, entitled "The Deal and the Weapon," broadcasted yesterday evening, Sunday, obtained exclusive information stating that the "Egyptian Naval Base Berenice", which was inaugurated on the Red Sea last January, was among its aims to cut off any supply to the resistance in Gaza.

Politicians and military experts confirmed that the Egyptian Berenice base, which was established with Emirati funding and attended by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, was established in coordination with Israel with the aim of tightening the screws on the Palestinian resistance and preventing it from obtaining weapons.

The Egyptian authorities say that the development of the base came within the framework of raising the efficiency of the army with weapons, training and military bases, and supporters of the authority say that the Berenice base protects Egypt's southern borders, and it comes as a message to the Ethiopian side in light of the Renaissance Dam negotiations.

The area of the military base is 150,000 acres, and it includes a naval base, an air base, a military hospital, a number of combat and administrative units, areas for shooting and training for all weapons, and a dock.

British journalist David Hearst said that the establishment of the naval base took place in coordination with Israel, because "nothing happens without security coordination with Israel, and we have seen that many times."

The researcher and expert on Middle East affairs, Ian Black, said that the Berenice base is the product of intelligence cooperation between Egypt and Israel to stifle the resistance in Gaza, which is one of the goals of this naval base.

In an indication of Egypt's relationship with the siege of the resistance weapons, former head of the internal security apparatus in Israel, Ami Ayalon, said that we used Egypt to explain to the international community, Hamas and the Palestinians that in order to create a different reality in Gaza, Hamas must be disarmed.

The former Israeli security official explained that after the military operations in Gaza, Tel Aviv reached the conclusion that Israel should not disarm Hamas itself.

Jim Moran, a former US Congressman, said that Sisi's role is to contain the Egyptian people, ensure stability and prevent any real democracy, and he will have as much influence as the United States, Israel and Arab countries choose to use it.

It is noteworthy that after the opening of the base, the Israeli Channel 12 considered that the Berenice base would contribute to protecting the security of Israel.

"Israel has a very limited presence in this sensitive area, and expanding the Egyptian presence there would also help maintain the security of ships to and from Israel," said Ehud Yaari, the channel’s Arab affairs analyst.

Yaari explained that Egypt had obtained aid from Saudi Arabia and the UAE to establish the aforementioned base, as part of the steps taken by the two countries to deploy military bases along the coasts of the Red Sea.
