During the spring and early summer, approximately 11,000 women aged 40 to 69 were called for a mammography examination in Halland.

Just over 6,000 of them have chosen not to attend their booked survey.

- People have been afraid of being infected, says Inger Hallin, head of X-rays in Region Halland.

If there is a risk that someone has cancer that is discovered too late, Inger Hallin does not want to speculate. Now she urges everyone who has received a new summons to come to that examination.

Risk groups are also called

Earlier during the pandemic, women in the risk group have not been called for a mammography examination - but now women between the ages of 70 and 74 are also starting to be called.

- We call them on special days, so that they feel safe.

We have made special efforts, including moving chairs in the waiting room and using protection when we take care of patients in the risk group, says Inger Hallin.

Breast Cancer Association: Sad

Monica Weiland, chairman of the Breast Cancer Association in Halland, thinks it is sad that women do not come when they have been called for a mammography examination.

- An early detection of cancer is the key to being able to overcome it so that it does not have time to form metastases, daughter tumors, in other parts of the body.

At the same time, she understands that it has become like this.

- The whole society has been fully occupied by the pandemic.

The Breast Cancer Association welcomes the region's investment in special times for mammography for risk groups.
