The County Administrative Board, together with the police, has been monitoring crayfish fishing on Lake Vättern for three weekends, during which time they have also informed about a new set of rules for crayfish fishing.

According to fisheries inspector Michael Bergström, people have complied well with the new cancer rules.

- We have probably not found more than a handful who have taken ashore for many and for small crayfish, on the whole this has worked very well, says Michael Bergström.

Only 8 police reports

As every year, poaching occurs, but the number of police reports this year is at a record low level, only 8 police reports have been made during this year's crayfish fishing period.

Since the public's crayfish fishing was reduced from five weekends to three weekends, there is less poaching according to fisheries supervisor Michael Bergström.

- It's about the poachers hiding among the public and doing, we have found a little bigger poaching stuff, says Michael Bergström.
