Buhairi, 66, is a former headmaster of a school in Basarta, Damietta Governorate.

Usually, the Egyptian authorities reject the accusations of opponents and human rights defenders of prisoners ’medical neglect, and say that they provide care to detainees and deal with them in accordance with human rights laws.

And at the beginning of this month, human rights sources announced the death of 3 detainees in a number of Egyptian prisons during the past 24 hours, and the matter is related to Abdul Rahman Muhammad Zawal in Tora Prison, Subhi Al-Saqa in Burj Al Arab Prison in Alexandria, and Shaaban Hussein in Fayoum Prison.

Last month, the doctor and leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, Essam El-Erian, who was among the thousands arrested by the police after the July 3, 2013 coup, died, and remained in prison for nearly seven years until his death.
