“We insist on the need to satisfy this request,” she said.

Zakharova recalled that Russia still did not receive a response to a request for data, including test results, biomaterials and other clinical samples, requested in Germany on August 27 by the Prosecutor General's Office.

“The requested samples are necessary to complete the pre-investigation check carried out by the Russian law enforcement agencies on the facts of the illness and hospitalization of A. Navalny, which was extended until September 20,” she added.

According to Russian legislation, the diplomat notes, a check is an indispensable condition for the possible initiation of a criminal case, since no traces of poisoning were found following the examination of the patient by doctors in Omsk.

Earlier, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office announced that it had sent an additional request for legal assistance to Germany in the Navalny case.

As noted by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the Russian side does not yet have legal grounds to open a criminal case on this incident, and that is why on August 27 the Prosecutor General's Office requested legal assistance from the FRG.
