The formal decision to close the office in Ydre has not yet been made.

In Kisa, Kinda municipality, the police station will from today be open weekends Mondays at 16-18.

- We have had a few more visitors there, but open between 12 and 16, when most people work, says Sofia Hedberg, municipal police with increased responsibility for Ydre and Kinda.

Area police

She believes that the police's resources are better utilized if they invest in being more visible.

- We are in the town and can be seen when we carry out, for example, traffic checks and check specific criminal suspicions.

The local police can also be reached via other contact areas such as the police website, according to Hedberg.

- We also have area police who are attached to the town and when there are alarms, our intervention patrols go.

Priorities

- However, I think that sometimes there are cases that are prioritized as a lack of resources by the regional command center, and we do not send a patrol.

But, if a similar event had taken place in Linköping, we would have sent a resource.

I wish for a greater presence in the smaller towns.

When it comes to alarm-controlled operations, units to Ydre are often sent from Tranås or Eksjö.

Gathering strength

- The public still has a feeling that it was better when we had police stations in Kisa and Åtvidaberg.

But when things happen, we gather strength - for example at the assassination attempt in Kisa during the summer.

Hedberg also believes that Ydre is one of Sweden's safest municipalities and the signals she receives from, among others, entrepreneurs are that it works well today.
