It is not only in the automobile that the second-hand market is flourishing.

Greece said on Sunday that its large order of French fighter planes would include six new Rafales, and 12 second-hand.

"These are six new devices and twelve which have been used a little," said Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who on Saturday announced a major armament program over ten years against the backdrop of tensions with neighboring Turkey.

"The first devices will arrive in Greece in 2021 and the purchase will be completed in early 2022," he said during a press conference in Thessaloniki (north), the country's second city.

As a replacement for the Mirage-2000

The Prime Minister did not specify the cost of this purchase of these devices which will replace the Mirage-2000, also French.

On Saturday, during a speech on the occasion of the country's economic and political return, Kyriakos Mitsotakis declared that "the time had come to strengthen our armed forces" stressing that "this important program will form a national shield".

The French Minister of the Armed Forces, Florence Parly, and Dassault Aviation warmly welcomed this choice.

Tensions between Greece and Eastern Mediterranean Turkey have peaked in recent weeks after the deployment of the Turkish research vessel Oruç Reis escorted by Turkish warships to a disputed maritime area in the Eastern Mediterranean by the two neighboring countries.

This area is considered rich in hydrocarbons.

Greece has obtained the support of the EU and in particular of France which recently carried out joint military maneuvers with the Greek naval forces near this disputed area.
