The DPP’s single-handedly concocted Chinese history has almost disappeared.

Taiwan’s history textbook "independently" harms the next generation on the island

At the beginning of the new semester, there was a history teacher on the island who contributed books to the media, complaining that the new version of the second-grade history textbook Chinese history has been greatly deleted, and "The Three Kingdoms disappeared and the Empress Wu disappeared", his behavior is horrible.

Public opinion on the island pointed out that, in order to promote "de-sinicization" and "cultural Taiwan independence," the DPP authorities have continuously deleted and altered the curriculum to tamper with history. One of the direct results is that history education loses the meaning of knowledge, gains and losses. The next generation becomes superficial and ignorant.

  "Independence"

The media on the island found that in these new textbooks that incorporate Chinese history into East Asian history, the extent to which Chinese history has been deleted is surprising.

Take the Hanlin version of the new textbook for the second grade as an example, the first chapter "State and Society from Shang and Zhou to Sui and Tang Dynasties" is deleted to only 4 pages. The 2,400-year history is only described in 1,600 words. Historical figures only mention Qin Shihuang, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty and other few people have brought them all at once.

The new textbook briefly mentions the Zhou Wuwang’s defeat of Zhou, the Spring and Autumn Five Hegemony, the Seven Heroes of the Warring States Period, the Yellow Turban Uprising at the end of Han Dynasty, the Three Kingdoms, the Wei, Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties. There are no traces of the reign of Zhenguan, the prosperous era of Kaiyuan, and the chaos of Anshi... No wonder it was rated as "the most'unique' history textbook in history" by the education circle on the island.

According to statistics from Wu Kuncai, a professor at the Department of Applied History of Chiayi University, Taiwan, one of the textbooks uses 6 chapters to tell about 3,600 years from the Shang and Zhou Dynasties to the late Qing Dynasty. Each chapter only uses 1,500 words but will talk about 600 years.

"Messy, incomprehensible, no timing, no cause and effect." "It can only be said that'broken' is the biggest characteristic of historical education of the DPP authorities."

This is the second year that the DPP has launched a new curriculum.

Last year, when the history textbooks were launched in the first and middle schools of high school and junior high, they aroused public criticism for beautifying colonial rule and flooding with "de-sinicization" content.

In these textbooks, the Austronesian language family replaced the Chinese nation as the ancestors of the Taiwanese. Ming Zheng and the Qing rule were written as "foreign powers" indistinguishable from the Dutch and Japanese colonists in order to deny the Cairo Declaration and the Potsdam Proclamation. The "theory of the undetermined status of Taiwan" on which the legal effect is the theoretical basis is on the books.

  "Amnesia Project"

People of insight from all walks of life on the island expressed their sorrow and worry about the crude tampering of history textbooks.

You Zixiang, vice president of Shih Hsin University, said that this is an "amnesia project" by the DPP authorities to "de-sinicize", trying to mess up the development axis of Chinese history and cut off the close connection between Taiwan and Chinese history.

Taiwan’s middle school teacher Shen Yu wrote in the "United Daily News" that in order to accommodate more "East Asian development history", Chinese history has been greatly simplified. The greatest Han and Tang dynasties in Chinese history have almost disappeared in the memory of the new generation in Taiwan. Xiang's name also disappeared, "There is no Liu Bang nor Wu Zetian."

He questioned: "Without people, there will be no stories. How boring and dull history lessons will be? What is the meaning of history education without knowing the rise and fall?"

The chairman of the Kuomintang Disciplinary Examination Committee and lawyer Ye Qingyuan directly approved that, according to the new textbook, "the children in Taiwan will no longer know what the Three Kingdoms are, or who is Zhao Yun and who is Lu Bu?"

Li Gongqin, vice president of Shih Hsin University, said that the changes in the syllabus reflected the political intent of the Democratic Progressive Party, "the country must be destroyed before its history."

The new syllabus beautifies the Japanese colonization, uses the four words "white terror" to refer to the Kuomintang ruling, and does not mention anything about the achievements of mainland China since the reform and opening up. This has caused misunderstandings and misunderstandings among young students and weakened their sense of identity with the Chinese nation. "The DPP wants to use this teaching material to consolidate its dominant position."

People in the education circles on the island pointed out that a textbook is used by about 200,000 Taiwanese students every year, and it is 2 million in 10 years. With the spillover effect, there are probably 4 million people in Taiwan that will be affected by this "de-sinicized" history textbook. .

If "Taiwan Independence" textbooks are not available in time to correct chaos, the longer the delay, the deeper the harm of "independence", the greater the price that Taiwanese society will have to pay.

  Must be backlashed

Over the years, Green Camp has been trying every means to modify the syllabus.

As Duan Xinyi, chairman of the Taiwan Chinese Language Education Promotion Association, said: "Taiwan's educational resources have been used to gradually construct a historical interpretation of'anti-China' in the past 20 years."

In the early years, Taiwan’s middle school history textbooks were compiled in accordance with the chronological order of historical dynasties. During Lee Teng-hui’s period, the first grade textbook was changed to "Knowing Taiwan History" and "Knowing Taiwan Geography", and only then began to study Chinese History in the second grade.

The history of China and the history of Taiwan are divided into two sections, the content is condensed, and the order of learning is placed after the history of Taiwan.

During the Chen Shuibian period, history textbooks were further drastically tampered with. Not only did the Chinese history be condensed from the original three books into one, but the original terms such as "my country", "home country" and "Mainland" in the textbooks were all changed to "China"; "Unified China" "From "Historical Outlook" to "Historic Slogan"; Wuchang Uprising became Wuchang "Uprising"; "Huanghuagang 72 Martyrs" disappeared from the textbook...

During Ma Ying-jeou's period, he tried to set things right through the "fine-tuning of the syllabus", but was forced to shelve it because the Democratic Progressive Party launched student protests.

After the DPP authorities came back to power in 2016, the first step is to abolish the "fine-tuning of the curriculum" and concoct the "most unique in history" curriculum.

A survey conducted by online media on the island found that nearly 70% of Taiwanese netizens strongly disagree or disagree with the deletion of Chinese history from middle school textbooks.

As the spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council Ma Xiaoguang once commented, the so-called new curriculum led by the DPP authorities and the "Taiwan independence" forces, to forget the ancestors, beautify the colonial rule, and attempt to split the historical and cultural connection between the two sides of the strait, not only poisoning the younger generation of Taiwan, but also Further undermining cross-strait relations and intensifying cross-strait confrontation will inevitably meet strong opposition from Taiwanese society.

Taiwan's "China Times" commented on the title "Those who do not respect history will eventually be bitten" said that the new version of the history textbook provides content that is messy, unscheduled, and without cause and effect. We only see "How history education is ended? "The blood stains."

But "the wild joy will have a brutal end", the green camp willfully massacred historical education and violated academic ethics, and will eventually be backlashed by history itself.
