4 distinct experiences in the race to find a "Corona" vaccine

Four studies emerged in the search for a vaccine against the new "Corona" virus.

And this is at a time when several countries are conducting about 170 vaccine projects against the virus, some of which are on the right path.

There are about 20 in the second phase (effectiveness studies on a small number of people), and six have begun the third phase (efficacy studies on tens of thousands of people), which precedes, if good results are achieved, a potential market placement.

However, there are only four candidate vaccines available:

1 - University of Oxford and the Anglo-Swedish laboratory "AstraZeneca": the potential vaccine uses a viral vector, in this case a weak virus and does not reproduce, and therefore without risk;

It carries the protein "Spike", which allows "Covid 19" to penetrate into human cells, and it is the best possible antigen to stimulate immunity.

2 - The same approach is being taken by a Chinese project that includes "Cansino Biologics" and military doctors, in another study.

This vaccine strategy is reliable, has been shown in the past, and can provide long-term protection.

3 - The Chinese "Sinovac" vaccine, called CoronaVac, uses an inactivated version of the "Corona" virus.

This type of vaccine stimulates immunity and makes it strong, but it has more side effects.

4- Another method is the use of viral nucleic acids, which, by merging or interfering with the genome of human cells, make them produce a viral protein, against which immune cells interact.

The RNA vaccine from the US biotechnology company Moderna, also in its third phase, follows this path.

The downside is that the long-term effectiveness and risks of this technology, which has not yet been commercialized, are still being studied.

In addition, at least one vaccine - European, American, or Chinese - could be available by the end of 2020, long before initial expectations.

As for the Russian "Sputnik-V" vaccine, it is not ready yet, despite official announcements.
