In connection with an interview in Ekot's Saturday interview last week, Löfving said that there are 40 family-based criminal networks in Sweden that have come here for the purpose of committing crime.

The statement attracted attention and created a debate about ethnicity and crime.

In tonight's interview in Agenda, Mats Löfving will have the opportunity to develop his view on family-based criminal networks and gang crime.

Researchers partially confirm the picture

Researchers, criminologists and employees within the police confirm that there is family-based crime in the country, but say that they have not seen that the people in these networks came to Sweden precisely to commit crimes.

Linda H Staaf, who is head of the intelligence unit at the National Operations Department, believes that the networks have developed over a long period of time in Sweden.

- We have examples of networks that were established 35-40 years ago, but we also have examples of networks that come here today solely for the purpose of committing crime, she said in an interview with SVT earlier this week.

She also sees a greater threat from just family-based networks because that crime is based on a shift in power from the state.
