7,138 new cases of corona in France
On Sunday, the French health authorities recorded 7,183 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, down from a record increase in infections on Saturday, which reached 10,561.
The French Ministry of Health also stated in a daily update on its website that the number of those transferred to hospitals for treatment from Covid-19 increased during the past week to 2,464, compared to 2,432 in Saturday's census.
She said that among those 427 were transferred to intensive care units during the past seven days, up from 417 at Saturday's census.
France, like other European countries, is facing a jump in cases of the emerging coronavirus, which prompted the government on Friday to pledge to take steps to expedite examinations and tighten procedures in high-infection areas to avoid a return to the general isolation measures that were imposed earlier this year.
