12 September 2020Cesare Battisti, former CAP terrorist sentenced to life imprisonment for 4 murders and other serious crimes, will soon be transferred from the Sardinian prison in Oristano to the Calabrian prison in Rossano, where he will be imprisoned in the high security circuit 2, or the one intended for prisoners convicted of acts related to terrorism.

The Dap (Department of the Penitentiary Administration) rejected, with the assent of the National Anti-Mafia and Anti-Terrorism Directorate, Battisti's request to obtain a more mitigated detention regime to be served in Rome or Milan.

Battisti, however, concluded the sentence of six months of imprisonment in daytime solitary confinement - inflicted on him together with life imprisonment - and now he can access a less rigid prison regime, with the social spaces provided for by the penitentiary system for the high security circuit where they are prisoners of the crimes of the years of lead. When a place is available in the Rossano prison, Battisti will be transferred and will spend 15 days in medical isolation for Covid.
