The Libyan Crime Monitoring Organization called for the release of a lawyer who was kidnapped by the forces of retired Major General Khalifa Haftar 3 days ago in the eastern city of Benghazi.

The non-governmental organization said, in tweets in English on its Twitter account, that it followed the "kidnapping of lawyer Ali Belras Ali by armed Haftar forces in Benghazi on September 8, and his fate is still unknown."

She added, "We call on Haftar's forces to immediately release the lawyer, and hold them responsible for his safety, and we also demand an end to the phenomenon of kidnapping and arbitrary detention in eastern Libya."

The organization monitored the kidnapping of lawyer "Ali Balras Ali" by gunmen affiliated with the General Command of the Libyan Army in Benghazi, on Tuesday 8 September, and his fate remains unknown.

It was not immediately clear the reasons for the lawyer’s kidnapping, but local and international human rights organizations monitored several violations against civilians and activists in eastern Libya by Haftar’s forces, against the backdrop of their opposing positions and rejecting the deteriorating living conditions in the region.

The Libyan Crime Monitoring Organization recorded the arrest of civil activist Ahmed Faraj Zaki (44 years), from the city of Tobruk (east), by the Internal Security Agency, on September 6, against the background of his filming and publishing a video clip while participating in the protests against the deterioration City living conditions.

And for the second consecutive day, angry protests continued in Benghazi, on Friday, against the deterioration of services and the low standard of living in the city under the control of Haftar's forces.

Citizens in Benghazi say that the city is witnessing power cuts that extend for long periods of time daily, as well as high prices for fuel, goods and food.
