On 1 September, the Green Party's nomination committee opened for nominations for the post of female spokesperson.

Several heavy candidates have already said no and only one, Member of Parliament Rebecka Le Moine, has so far come forward and said that she would like to take over as party leader.

Earlier today, Minister for Gender Equality Åsa Lindhagen opened to run for the post in an interview in Expressen.

Several are waiting with answers

But several established people who have been singled out as favorites are waiting to be notified.

Annika Hirvonen, group leader in the Riksdag and migration policy spokesperson, tells SVT Nyheter that she has not made a decision yet.

- There are many who have heard of it and want to nominate me.

There is a lot to suggest that I need to think it through properly, she says.

For her part, it is what determines where she can do the most good for the party.

- We are facing a more important election than ever.

With the current state of public opinion, the Green Party will be the difference between a right-wing conservative takeover or not.

Whoever takes on that task will have an important task to lead the party and engage members so that we can regain seats in municipalities where we have lost seats and ensure a strong green voice in the Riksdag, she says.

"A trust"

Janine Alm Ericson, group leader and member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, has not yet made a decision either.

- I have many who have heard of it and want to nominate and it's fun.

When people show confidence and believe that you can do a good job, you want to make the decision under proper consideration, she says.

On Thursday, Member of Parliament Rebecka Le Moine became the first candidate to say that she had agreed to be nominated.

Minister for Gender Equality Åsa Lindhagen has not made a decision but tells the newspaper Expressen that she "strongly considers" to run.

No answers to give today

Party secretary Märta Stenevi is also a person who is often mentioned as a favorite.

She greets via her press secretary that she has nothing to say on the issue right now.

Karolina Skog, economic-political spokesperson and former Minister of the Environment, also does not want to comment on a possible candidacy.

She greets via her press secretary that she is happy that her name is mentioned in the speculations but that she has no answer to give today.

Three heavy candidates have previously announced that they will not run: EU parliamentarian Alice Bah Kuhnke, Minister of Culture Amanda Lind and Maria Ferm, State Secretary.

The nomination process runs until September 29.

The Nomination Committee will present its list of candidates on 7 October.
