These materials include the weathered layer anywhere on the moon's surface, including rocks, soil, and dust.

NASA plans to buy raw materials from private companies on the moon and bring them back to Earth.

NASA will not pay companies to reach the moon.

  Bridenstine said that the main goal of the plan is to prepare for the return to the moon and landing on Mars, which will be completed before 2024.

According to the Washington Post, NASA is trying to send two astronauts to the south pole of the moon by 2024, and hopes to dig out the water ice there to study whether it can be used as drinking water or broken down into rocket fuel.
