LilianaSegre is 90 today, the child who survived Auschwitz who has made the testimony of the horrors of the Shoah and the fight against all forms of hatred one of her reasons for living.

Also for this reason, the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, appointed her a life senator in 2018.

Born in Milan in 1930, she suffered the racial laws for her Jewish origins while still a child and was expelled from school.

At 14 she was deported with her father Alberto to the Auschwitz concentration camp starting from that track 21 of the Milan Central Station where the Shoah Memorial now stands.

After years and years of silence in which she was unable to talk about the pain and humiliations she suffered, Segre, now one of the few survivors of the Holocaust, began to tell her story in various public meetings and in particular to thousands of students. from all over Italy to keep alive the memory of horrors and errors that must not be forgotten.

Due to the hundreds of threats and insults received in recent years on the web and on social media, Liliana Segre lives under guard.
