This decision was made by the chairman of the department Alksandr Bastrykin.

The department will be created in the structure of the investigation department of previous years - it is part of the General Investigation Department.

"The work of this unit will be aimed not only at identifying the perpetrators of crimes during the war years and thus implementing the principle of inevitability of punishment, but also at preventing distortion of historical facts," the UK said.

The department was created taking into account "what position, unacceptable for Russia, is taken by certain Western countries, assessing the results of the Second World War."

In May, Nikolai Patrushev, secretary of the Russian Security Council, noted that the lie about World War II became a tool for the Western elite to destroy the established security architecture and Russia's role in the world.
